AT Enigin Plc we wanted to be seen by people - we wanted them to see behind the corporate web site and see and get a feel for the real company, the people behind it, who they are and what they do.

We are all used to seeing the slick marketing materials and web sites of companies, the enigin.com website is no exception, that they are faceless brochures, providing information but very little human touch.

Hence the push to start this blog and our related blogs, Ian Wrigley's, Enigin Tech Talk (just added) and the soon to be launched Enigin Direct blog, to reach out to the world.

Blogs are a new way of marketing, as can be seen fromfrom the headline in Business Week, and one that sees a welcome change. Instead of some spin of marketing speak, people are encouraged to be honest, straight forward and open. Many traditonal marketeers are horrified that blogs and such like see companies talking to their clients and others as real people but isn't this something we should all encourage.

Blogs are very good at getting the people behind companies out there, not only introducing themselves but allowing readers to comment and contact the company and individuals directly.

This has already proved the case with this blog, with many readers emailing us after enjoying a visit to these pages here at Enigin's own Blogsphere, watching the videos and seeing the real company behind the name and the Enigin solution.

We are delighted with the response and truly believe it is the future.

We also give you great things for free, like the business advice on Ian Wrigley's blog and answers to many questions regarding Enigin.

Keep the feedback coming and if you are in business, particularly an Enigin partner, start your own blog for your clients to see what you can offer them. Enigin Partners can help them with reducing costs, protecting profits plus global warming and environmental issues.

Prince Charles warns of 'climate crunch'

UK newspaper The Daily Telegraph carries the following report:

The Prince of Wales has warned Governments around the world not to let concerns with the global "credit crunch" distract them from the growing problem of the "climate crunch".

In a speech to businessmen and government officials in Japan, Charles said the financial turmoil reinforced the idea that tackling the major environmental problem could stimulate economic activity.

The Prince made the comments during a visit to the Miraikan Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation in Tokyo, on the first full day of an official tour of Japan he is making with the Duchess of Cornwall.

The heir to the throne said the world owed Japan a "debt of gratitude" for hosting the ground-breaking climate change conference at Kyoto in 1997.

He added: "Given the current turbulence in the international financial system and the immediate and damaging effect it is having on the whole world, the 'credit crunch' is rightly a preoccupation of vast significance and importance.

"But, ladies and gentlemen, we take our eye off the 'climate crunch' at our peril.

"While we hope and pray that the underlying strengths of the global economy will - once again - enable it to bounce back, the effects of climate change will be far from temporary and will, indeed, be irreversible."

He went on to say: "It seems to me that the current international financial difficulties serve only to reinforce the message that positive action to tackle climate change could in fact be a stimulant to economic activity."

The Prince also highlighted how pictures taken by the Japanese Space Agency had recorded the degradation to rainforests around the world - with 130,000 square kilometres lost each year.

"The scale of the challenge is clear - nothing less than an urgent, full-scale transformation to a low-carbon society is needed," he said.

The Prince added: "For developed countries like the UK and Japan, it means a cut in current carbon emissions of 70 to 80 per cent by 2050."

He also stated that his Prince's Rainforest Project, launched last year to develop an innovative public-private initiative to tackle deforestation, would be making its first draft proposals in the coming weeks.

He ended his address by speaking in Japanese and quoting a local proverb which translated as "do not say anything - just take action".

Home Work

TODAY, Tuesday, I have been sat at home beavering away on the computer, setting up further blog bits and pieces plus preparing videos for various Enigin blogs and web sites.

Is it not one of the beauties of this technological age that we can often work anywhere, at least usually anywhere there is an Internet connection and with mobile technology that can be many places. In the past I have updated websites from all over the world, besides swimming pools, up mountains and down in canyons.

Due to a car accident a couple of weeks ago I am without my car and I face a 72 mile round trip for work. I do have a motorbike, a Suzuki Bandit 1250, which eats up the miles and is also far more fun to travel on than a car, but this morning I was trying to finalise when I will get my car back from the repair shop, possibly Friday hurray! Also there were forecasts of wintry and snowy weather this afternoon, very early for the UK,  so the bike didn't seem to be the best choice.

By the time I had sorted out the details about the car it made it very late to set out for the office, so I decided to get my head down and get a load of work done here in front of the fire with a mug of coffee and few interruptions.

In times past it would have meant taking a day off or spending all day travelling and getting little done, as it is I have probably achieved more and the office has been only a phone call away or, if needed, on line.

Of course there is another side to home working, as there is to everything. It does also mean that often I am sat here in front of the fire/television/dog/family still working into the early hours.

All this just to keep you up to date with whatever is happening at Enigin! Although I wasn't even there myself today.

I will be back in the office tomorrow and will be looking to conclude some video uploads for this blog and our other websites, plus finalising Becca Stuart's Enigin blog.

There is some good stuff to come - check out Ian Wrigley's blog, there have been some tweaks and corrections made there today and I am working on a video for his blog as well.

So here I am, still working and the office closed about an hour ago! Yes...where is the wisdom in that?

It's Monday Let's Get Going

IT'S Monday, the best day of the week - because it is the day you can get set for the challenges of the week ahead.

There is plenty on my plate this week - particularly surrounding our blogs and websites, I am also putting together a video of some of the partner's comments after last week's training - it is useful for all to hear what they thought.

Last week was very busy, with the Training Course, it meant I had to try and get all my regular work finished as well as contribute to the training, get videos edited and on line and see my family (who didn't recognise me when I eventually showed up) and of course get at least eight hours of sleep, for the week that is.

That Ian Wrigley maybe a very successful entrepreneur and experienced in this business but he is also a slave driver - why did I give him his own blog? He always wants me to tweak it, that eight hours sleep a week is already down to six!

Only joking of course...Ian works hard and with his blog has made his knowledge available to all and has hence added to his workload - (Click Here)

It's good stuff, albeit a little serious, if you want a bit more of a light hearted look at what we do here at Enigin keep returning to this blog, where we will keep you up to date with everything that is happening here at Enigin HQ but sometimes with a slight twist!

For instance...this will be the first full week for the Enigin Direct department to be up and running. As reported last week the Telesales girls only started on Tuesday afternoon and had already had success in making appointments.

Today the sales team (four lads out there on the road) have started to follow up the appointments the girls had made and are progressing well, it's their first day out after being in training all last week and we are already getting very positive feedback.

For the rest of us at Enigin the "Direct" company will provide an ideal opportunity to test and case study various aspects of the business that will help us serve our partners better. Not only that, it is a great business opportunity for Enigin, instead of just helping others obtain a great business we can share in that success, we too can make a profit from dealing direct with customers in our locality.

Rebecca Stuart (known as Becca) works within the Enigin Direct fold and will have her own Blog this week (down to 5 hours sleep) - she will keep you up to date on how they are progressing and will also provide useful information and news for Enigin Partners to use.

It's Monday so get ready to rumble people, have a great week and do some good business.

Enigin In Eden

ENIGIN Partners on a week long residential commercial training course, ahead of setting up their own Energy Saving businesses in their home lands, took a break from the course to visit the world renowned Eden Project in Cornwall.

The visit reminds all visitors of the importance of protecting our environment and Enigin Plc help companies to lessen their carbon footprint and cut costs at the same time.

The partners had a great time at The Eden Project and will take their experience and their new found business knowledge back home to help businesses and the environment locally.

Telesales Up And Running

LAST week there was great movement at Enigin, as I reported we had to move desks and positions to allow room for the Enigin Direct sales team to move in.

Yes telesales are up and running and they started calling local businesses for the first time this afternoon and have already lined up several appointments - well done girls.
Becca Stuart, of Enigin Direct, will soon have her own blog here and she will tell you more about the set-up and even the script the girls here are using.

October Enigin Training

Our residential commercial training course started this afternoon in a very rainy Cornwall in the UK.

Enigin Partners from all points around the globe attended, from Asia, South America, Africa, Europe and North America.

Training Day

Next week, week starting October 20, sees another Enigin's Residential Training Course.

The reason I mention this, is that I will be handling part of the course myself for the first time and hence I am knuckling down and digesting the information I have to present.

It is made ever more difficult by the fact that it is based on someone else’s notes and presentation. Hence the worry – so next Wednesday October 22 I will be no doubt making a fool of myself.

By the same token, as you can tell from this blog, that is something I am not unaccustomed to doing!
These courses are held on a monthly basis to provide that boost and motivation to new Enigin partners and above all teach them how to run their own energy saving business.
The basis behind a lot of the course is covered in the White Paper produced by someone I consider a business Guru, Ian Wrigley (his own blog is coming soon).

The course concentrates on specific areas of business involved with the Enigin solution, but also trains individuals in many areas that will help them to develop as entrepreneurs and individuals.

I have some ideas to add to the “piece” I am covering and will let you know how it went down (I hope that is not too prophetic) in a post next week, maybe with some video or photos if they are not too embarrassing.

Direct Move

Here at Enigin Plc we are in the middle of setting up a "Direct" company.

What do I mean by that? We are bringing many new employees to work for Enigin Direct. Let me explain...

At Enigin our core business is helping other people to build a successful energy saving businesses by
appointing, training and supporting Enigin partnerships around the world.

Enigin have now joined the market themselves! We have set up our own Enigin Partnership, as it were, based in our offices here in St Austell in the UK. As any partner does in their country or area, Enigin Direct (as we have named it) will take on the business model and start selling Enigin's Energy Saving solution in the Westcountry of England.

This will be an ideal testing ground for improving the business model and energy saving products, which will help the business, the partners businesses and ultimately help protect the environment.

This has meant changes in our offices. We moved into a smart new office in mid April this year and have already started to outgrow it. Now with the Enigin Direct set up, we have had to squeeze up again.

All the existing desks have been moved around, with offices being swapped so that we can get in the telesales team from Monday; let alone the managers of Enigin Direct and the facilities for the Direct sales team!

The New Tele-sales Area

Already plans are in place for a new purpose built building near to our current site.

In a time of worry for many companies it is a relief to work for a company that is expanding.
